An Annotated Bibliography of the Biology of the Coast Redwood

(Sequoia sempervirens (D.Don) Endl.), by Deborah L. Rogers

Introduction
The appreciation of coast redwood, the preparation of well-reasoned plans for its conservation, and the pursuit of a better understanding of the species through research, are all enhanced and supported when currently-available information about the species is well organized and readily accessible. This annotated bibliography of the biology of coast redwood has been prepared with such support functions in mind. The articles are treated here as independent units of information: the bibliography was not prepared with the intent of any particular application other than improving awareness of coast redwood biology and facilitating access to such literature. The complete bibliography is available for download below (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).

For more than 90 years, Save the Redwoods League has been dedicated to protecting the ancient redwood forests so all generations can experience the inspiration and majesty of redwoods. In 1850, there were nearly 2 million acres of ancient coast redwood forests in California. Today, less than 5 percent remains and faces threats from unsustainable logging practices, poorly planned development and global climate change. Since its founding in 1918, the League has completed the purchase of more than 189,000 acres of land.
