The Dichelostemma venustum is a monocot in the family Liliaceae. It's a perennial herb that is native to California.
Calling all Botanical Enthusiasts...
Spot the Dichelostemma venustum: a rare hybrid lily not
formerly known to occur in Mendocino County.

Meeting Location:
Meet at the Starbucks in Ukiah promptly @ 9:00 a.m. Take the Perkin’s Street exit off of Highway 101 North in Ukiah. Save-the-Redwoods League Forest Ecologist Dan Porter will lead a caravan to the Montgomery Woods Reserve Expansion area about 45 minutes away. The hike will end at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Who:
Save-the-Redwoods League members, California Native Plant Society members, and staff from the California Department of Parks and Recreation. The walk will be led by local native plant expert and Department of Parks & Recreation Botanist Peter Warner.

Logistics:
Please bring your own food and water and dress for cold rain or bright, hot sun. We will be hiking over strenuous terrain for up to five miles. Comfortable and secure hiking shoes are a must.

Alert:
Bay Area residents: wash your boots with Lysol or a light bleach solution (10%) prior to coming to Mendocino County to avoid spreading Sudden Oak Death.
