Save-the-Redwoods League is pleased to announce the availability of education grant funds to schools, interpretative associations, and other qualified non-profits engaged in quality redwood education. Grants are designed to foster and encourage public awareness of redwoods, redwood ecology, and forest stewardship. Awards will be made to support outdoor education, teacher and interpreter continuing education, individual or group student projects, and other projects that further Save-the-Redwoods League's education goals.
Since 2000, Save-the-Redwoods League has awarded approximately 50 grants to dedicated schools, teachers, and organizations that provide high quality redwood and forest education both in the classroom and out. Last year the League successfully expanded the grant program by adding non-profit interpretive organizations to the list of eligible applicants.
"We entrust the stewardship of the ancient redwood forest to our children", said Kate Anderton, Executive Director of Save-the-Redwoods League. "Everyone who stands in the forest is touched by the mystery and awe of the redwoods. Save-the-Redwoods League is delighted to support those dedicated to creating educational opportunities for future generations to experience California's ancient redwoods firsthand".
