Mill Creek Interim Management Recommendations

In 2002, The League worked with Stillwater Sciences to develop an Interim Management Recommendations for the property. This process drew input from Del Norte County stakeholders such as county officials, business and community leaders, public agencies, educators, and resource ecologists. Our goal was to design and implement a framework for adaptive management of Mill Creek that allows for local involvement and public access while achieving resource conservation objectives.

The Interim Management Recommendations will guide the work of the Mill Creek Advisory Committee (including Save-the-Redwoods League, California Department of Fish and Game, the Wildlife Conservation Board, State Coastal Conservancy, and Del Norte County) which has been formed to advise the Department of Parks and Recreation on restoration priorities and management.

Restoration will address four complex, inter-related issues:

1. Vegetation Management
2. Road Management
3. Aquatic and Terrestrial Habitat Protection
4. Public Park Use
