Discover the stories of a notorious train robber, John Muir, lumberjacks, and many more characters on this adventure along the Big Stump Trail. This is a living history event that illustrates the history of the Smith-Comstock logging camp. Along this one-mile trail, you’ll meet characters who will bring the past to life with their stories. Spots are limited and reservations are required. Call the Kings Canyon Visitor Center at 559-565-4307 to reserve your spot.

Meet at the Big Stump Picnic Area, located about 2 miles from Grant Grove. Program is two hours long and covers one mile. This walk is moderately strenuous and is not accessible. There are uneven trail conditions and some elevation gain. The walk is not recommend for people with serious medical conditions. Please bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and insect repellent with you.

Programs are offered on July 8th, July 29th, August 12th, and September 9th, 2017.
