Tales of the Basin – A Storytelling Weekend Event

July 28 to 30, 2017, Various times and locations throughout the weekend.
The oral storytelling tradition comes to life with the ancient redwood forest as a backdrop. Events throughout the weekend include Big Basin Nature Tails for children of all ages, guided walks that spin a yarn along the trail and a Storyteller Showcase in the historic Campfire Center. Presented in collaboration with South Bay Storytellers and Listeners.

Friday Night Campfire! at 7:00 pm
The evening begins with marshmallow roasting for half an hour
followed by a story or two selected to go with the rangerÕs program
for that evening. Meet at the Campfire Center.

Junior Rangers Saturday at 3:00 pm
With the help of our guest storytellers,
children will learn about plants, animals, and more.
This one-hour program is designed for kids ages 7-12.
Sorry parents, this program is for kids only!
Register children 15 minutes before the program.
Please be sure they are dressed for active play in the outdoors.
Meet outside the store.

Big Basin “Nature Tails” storytelling program Saturday at 4:30 pm
A world of animal stories presented for children of all ages and their families
by local storytellers. Meet at the Campfire Center.

Storytellers’ Showcase Campfire! Saturday at 7:00 pm
Sit back and experience an old-fashioned evening steeped in the oral tradition,
as our guest storytellers weave their yarns in our historic amphitheater.
