UC Berkeley BioBlitz

April 9, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Come celebrate and discover the outdoors at UC Berkeley. We’ll walk through the creek, climb over rocks and look up trees to see what living plants and animals we can find.

Schedule: 9AM-1PM

Location: Valley Life Sciences Building North Lawn (

Lunch will be provided.

What to bring:

  • The most important things to bring are your curiosity, enthusiasm and desire to discover.
  • Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting wet if you want to walk in the creek.
  • Reusable water bottle!
  • If you have a smartphone and/or camera, bring those too, so you can keep track of what you find.

We’ll be using an app called iNaturalist. If you don’t have it, don’t worry. If you’re interested, you can sign up now for an iNaturalist account and download the app ahead of time: iPhone, Android.

Together, we’ll look for snails, birds, mammals, frogs, butterflies, other insects, spiders, trees, worms, flowers, and everything else we can find…to see what shares our world and lives around us.

Brought to you by the California Academy of Sciences, Save the Redwoods League, Berkeley Natural History Museums and the California Outdoor Engagement Coalition at UC Berkeley’s College of Natural Resources.
