So after wondering around this river through the snow in Hope Valley. I realized a bunch of ice crystals were laying on top of the frozen sections of the river. I had never seen such crazy fractal shapes before! So I immediately put on the Macro lens and started seriously geeking out in all the wild patterns. I spent at least an hour in this one 10 foot section of river, the excitement was out the roof, but the simplest features of nature really inspire me. I didn't realize that you could see these snowflake patterns with your own eyes, I always thought you needed a microscope to actually see patterns like this, but I also have done close to zero snow adventures. So a couple months back when @sara_loves_nature took over the @tahoesouth we went on tons of separate hikes that day, to show Lake Tahoe in the moment. It is incredible. It is expansive, hot, and the terrain is full of mystery. For much of the first day I felt on edge as the landscape evoked emotions I've never experienced in the wilderness. I've seen desert landscapes before, but this place was unlike any other. It seemed like it was a place unable to bear life. But in the moments when I learned about the ecosystem of the park, I found my comfort. I believe resiliency is fundamental for life to flourish. At night, the park was peaceful, and incredibly alive.
