Rebirth Outside of the small town of Orick in Humboldt County, at the confluence of Prairie Creek and Redwood Creek, something special is unfolding around a 20-acre expanse of asphalt. A new gateway to Redwood National Park is a testament to the power of nature to bring people together. Perspective Syren Nagakyrie, founder and director of Disabled Hikers, shares perspectives on disability and the outdoors: “I don’t want the redwoods to be something that people only read about, but for so many disabled folks, that is the only way they can experience them.” Education Students blossom when learning outside As the pandemic destabilizes funding for outdoor programs nationwide, the League’s free K-12 field trips to the redwoods nourish bodies and minds. Giving TREESday Donors respond to our S.O.S. (Save Our Sequoia) After another devastating wildfire season for the giant sequoia, more than 1,000 people came together to help us protect and restore these ancient forests. We’re so thankful for your support.
