$97 million Redwoods Rising investment creates local jobs, stability on North Coast
Griff Griffith describes the formerly clear-cut areas in and around Redwood National and State Parks as a “gaping wound”—one that Redwoods Rising and ‘O Rew Redwoods Gateway projects are actively healing. But healthy forests also mean healthy communities. “When we talk about restoring forests, it’s not just about trees and salmon,” says Griff. “It’s also about people.”
A new report, Assessing the Restoration Economy, explores how forest restoration has created real jobs and economic opportunity on the North Coast. The report tracks the $97 million raised by Redwoods Rising, looking at how this economic investment benefits local businesses, supports hard-working families, and builds a sustainable alternative to the boom-and-bust cycles of the extraction economy. All while reviving the area’s iconic redwood landscape.
