Two new awards from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) are supporting League work to increase the carbon sequestration potential of redwood and giant sequoia ecosystems, while protecting them and surrounding communities from the threat of severe wildfires.
Save the Redwoods League today announced that it purchased the scenic 77-acre Westfall Ranch to buffer Headwaters Forest Reserve south of Eureka, California. The League purchased the $1.1 million property from Andy and Sandy Westfall, preventing other potential owners from developing, subdividing or commercially logging the land. More than 3,000 League members donated to this project.
Save the Redwoods League and Sequoia Riverlands Trust (SRT) announced today the donation of the 66-acre Craig Ranch in Tulare County to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), providing access to a popular area for recreationists.
