The Save-the-Redwoods League Board of Directors has appointed Katherine Anderton as the League's fifth Executive Director.
Ms. Anderton has been the League's General Counsel since 1995. During her tenure she negotiated and completed the purchase of more than 16,000 acres of redwood forest and associated lands. "Strategic purchase of forest lands beneficial to the redwood ecosystem's health will continue to be central to the League's work," Anderton stated. The League is completing a Masterplan for the Redwoods to guide acquisition and development of enlightened forest policy.
Ms. Anderton, a graduate of Stanford University and the Monterey College of Law, served as Counsel and Legislative Director for a congressional member, and as a city attorney before joining the League.
The Save-the-Redwoods League is a nonprofit organization, established in 1918, that acquires Coast Redwood and Giant Sequoia forest lands for protection in the 37 California Redwood State Parks, in Redwood National Park, and in other public parks and preserves. The League has contributed more than $100 million worth of land to the California State Parks and Redwood National Park.
