Rules

• The completion of an online Entry Form is required to enter this contest. Entry Forms must be submitted by an adult age 18 or older on behalf of the child participant. The online Entry Form is available at ReadingTheRedwoods.org.
• One entry per child participant.
• Contest participants will complete the following activities:
  1. Read two books about redwoods, forests, trees, and nature. Links to book lists will be provided along with encouragement to visit public libraries and local bookstores.
  2. Listen to one audio book about redwoods, forests, trees, and nature. Links to audio book sites and forest/tree/nature books will be provided.
  3. Take a selfie with your favorite tree, write a story about the redwoods, or draw a picture and post to an adult’s Facebook or Instagram with #Stand4Redwoods.
  4. Look into a redwood forest right now via a webcam using a link on the League’s website.
  5. Use the ExploreRedwoods.org trip planning tool to discover fun activities in redwood parks near you.
• When the child participant has completed the five activities, an adult will submit the online Finish Form at ReadingTheRedwoods.org.
• One prize package will be awarded each week between March 17-May 10 for a total of eight prize packages. Prize winners will be selected through a random number generator. All participants who have completed the Entry Form will automatically be entered to win the weekly prize packages. The winners will be notified by email.
• The Grand Prize and the First Prize will be awarded to one participant after the completion of the contest on May 10, 2018. All participants who have submitted the online Finished Form will automatically be entered to win the Grand Prize and the First Prize. The winner will be notified by email.
• All winners will be asked to send a photo of themselves clearly showing their faces. First names and photos of winners will be used for announcement and promotional purposes only, with parent’s/guardian’s permission.

Everyone who signs up will be entered to win weekly prize packages:

• A backpack full of goodies for young explorers like a notebook, compass, sunscreen, and a water bottle – donated by REI.
• Boxes of Z Bars – donated by CLIF Bar.
• Books about the natural world including The Ancient One by T.A. Barron, Tall Tall Tree by Anthony Frederick, Operation Redwood by S. Terrell French, and Where’s Rodney? by Carmen Bogan – donated by the authors.
• Totebag and goodies from Independent Bookstore Day on April 28.
• Recognition on ReadingtheRedwoods.org, in reading contest emails, and on Save the Redwoods League social media.

First Prize!
Everyone who completes the 5 activities will be entered to win a First Prize:

• A Riprock 24 children’s bike generously donated by Specialized.

Grand Prize!
Everyone who completes the 5 activities will be entered to win The Grand Prize:

• Accommodations: Three-day, two-night stay for up to five at the Best Western Humboldt Bay Inn, a family-friendly hotel in Old Town Eureka, close to shops, attractions, the Eureka boardwalk and more. Spa, heated pool and lagoon as well as limo service and breakfast included.
• Transportation: Voucher for up to $300USD for car rental from the Eureka-Humboldt Visitors Bureau.
• Activities during your stay include A) a naturalist tour of Redwood National and State Parks, compliments of Redwood Adventures and B) either a kayak lagoon tour, Humboldt Bay oyster tour, or horseback ride in Redwood National Park, depending on winner interest and seasonal conditions.
