Celebrating 90 Years and Growing!

Save-the-Redwoods League invites you to its 90th Anniversary Celebration.

Join us for presentations, cake and refreshments as we thank you for your support. Celebrate the League’s history of remarkable achievements, hear about the plan to broaden redwood conservation efforts, and see how we are moving ahead with renewed enthusiasm to save these world treasures. As part of our efforts to encourage more people of diverse backgrounds and ages to protect the redwood forest, we are holding our celebration in San Francisco Botanical Garden’s beautiful, urban redwood grove.

About Save-the-Redwoods League

Save-the-Redwoods League protects the habitat of the rare coast redwood, which lives 2,000 years and is the tallest being on Earth, reaching higher than 37 stories. This tree only grows near the coast in California and Oregon. The League also protects habitat of the giant sequoia, which survives only in small groves in California’s Sierra Nevada.

Since its establishment, Save-the-Redwoods League has been a leader in effective land conservation. It has:

  • Assisted in the purchase of more than 177,000 acres to protect redwoods.
  • Assisted in developing a system of 57 national and state California redwood parks, reserves and conservation easements that capture the diversity of the redwood forest.
  • Increased understanding of the forests through a competitive Research Grants Program.
  • Supported, through its Education Grants Program, more than 150 redwood education and interpretation projects for people of all ages.

Despite these successes, there is still much work to do: The League must continue to answer many urgent calls for redwood stewardship to protect these world treasures.
