
Casting a Long Shadow: Redwoods and Climate Change by Stephanie Jakob
Today, the remaining ancient redwood forests, including both the coast redwood (Sequoia semipervirens) and the giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) are but a mere fraction of what they once were. Both species have fallen prey to overzealous logging and development. Likewise, both of California’s redwoods are likely to be impacted by climate change, just as they have in the past. The pivotal question then becomes: how will global warming alter these redwood forests?
