Mill Creek is a model for redwood forest restoration. Your ongoing support enables critical restoration work to take place: removing former logging roads, protecting aquatic habitats, restoring young forests and assuring public access.

Salmon Spawning Day Trips

Witness the annual migration of spawning salmon at Mill Creek and Prairie Creek.

Save-the-Redwoods League, North Coast Redwood Interpretive Association and Redwood National and State Parks are offering free guided tours to view this natural phenomenon.

You will be amazed to see the creeks filled with spawning salmon and learn why the protection of Mill Creek is so ecologically significant.

A tributary of the Smith River, Mill Creek permanently protects one of California’s most prolific wild coho salmon nurseries and supports 23 endangered animal species including the marbled murrelet and the northern spotted owl. In 2002, Save-the-Redwoods League purchased and transferred the 25,000-acre Mill Creek redwood forest, to California State Parks.
