Stand for the Redwoods, Reach for the Stars
October 11 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Come to Stand for the Redwoods—giant sequoia in this case—and reach for the stars on Thursday, October 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. We will join our Centennial Partner, Calaveras Big Trees Association, for one of their free stargazing nights in one of the best night-sky viewing areas in the Sierra Nevada. Docents will share information and tell stories as everyone gazes at the night sky. Two telescopes and astronomical binoculars will give you a closer look at the moon, planets and deep sky objects. A telescope webcam will show images on a 40-inch monitor in real time.
Meet at the Calaveras Big Trees Overlook, 1170 East Highway 4, in Arnold, California, just a few miles past the Calaveras Big Trees State Park Visitor Center. Bring a chair if you’d like, but we will provide Save the Redwoods League blankets.
