Kristen discusses fire ecology, the impacts of the recent fires across Coast Redwood and Giant Sequoia species, and provide an update on the status of League-owned properties Cascade Creek in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Alder Creek within the Giant Sequoia National Monument.
Sam shares what actions the League is taking to build resilience into the forest; including what the League is planning to do to restore these forests and prepare them for the longer and hotter fire seasons ahead.

President and Chief Enthusiast for the Outdoors (CEO) of Save the Redwoods League, Sam brings more than 25 years of experience in overseeing land conservation programs from the remote wilderness to the inner city.
Kristen Shive,
Director of Science of Save the Redwoods League
Kristen joined the League’s staff in 2018 as a Senior Scientist and now serves as Director of Science. She has nearly 20 years of experience in forest and fire management, as well as fire ecology research.
