Joanna Nelson, Ph.D.

Joanna Nelson, Ph.D., is a conservation science expert specializing in forest, coastal, and fire ecology. A former Director of Science at the League, she has held fellowships with Stanford’s Natural Capital Project and The Nature Conservancy. She earned her doctorate from UC Santa Cruz and bachelor's and master's degrees from Stanford in Earth Systems.
