Author Archives: InterTribal Sinkyone Wilderness Council

A Consortium of Ten Tribes Protecting Tribal Traditional Lands and Waters Since 1986. We work in the coastal rainforest and marine environments of California’s North Coast to protect culturally important lands, waters, animals, trees, and plants within the traditional Sinkyone Tribal territory and beyond. We provide settings for the revitalization of California Indian peoples’ cultural ways of life, traditional land practices and spiritual relationships with these places. We promote appropriate wilderness recreation, and provide advocacy for and education about cultural lands and Tribal traditional rights. We carry out our work with respect for Mother Earth and our responsibility to past, present and future generations of all life. Our efforts are guided by our peoples’ traditional beliefs, knowledge and understandings, and by the laws of the land and the rights of nature. Learn more at Sinkyone.org
