It is all the rage! New York Times columnist Nick Bilton writes this week that a founder of Pinterest “drive[s] until cell service drops off (yes, this is possible) and spend[s] the weekend engaged with all things analog. . .”.
Mr. Bilton also writes about a game that he plays with dinner guests: “Attendees happily place their smartphones in a stack in the middle of the table, and the first person who touches his or her phone before the meal is over has to pay the bill.”
Join the fun! Go to the redwood forest – sans cell!
Last week we shipped north for a meeting with the staff of the Redwood National and State Parks. The next morning we snuck in a hike on the James Irvine Trail in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. No cell phone coverage in that walk among the ancients!
You can have the same success much closer to the San Francisco Bay Area. Try the Santa Cruz Mountains parks, like Portola Redwoods State Park and Sam McDonald County Park. Or head north to Muir Woods National Monument.
Go. Leave that tether behind. Enjoy.
