As we share our story and usher in a new chapter for the redwoods, we invite you to join us as a Centennial Sponsor!

The League will provide free day-use passes for more than 40 redwood state parks on the second Saturday of each month throughout our Centennial year. Second Saturdays will be promoted through an initial media release and subsequent announcements to the media, through social media channels, and through promotional ads in print and electronic media. We anticipate over 300,000 participants over the 12-month period. Visit FreeRedwoodsDays.org to learn more.

The League is collaborating with public schools and environmental education partners to inspire young people to learn about the redwoods through a free online reading contest in the spring of 2018. Reading the Redwoods is a family friendly contest for young readers who will be invited to complete several easy and fun activities to be eligible to win weekly prizes. Author T. A. Barron, best known for his Merlin series now being developed into a feature film by Disney, is the ambassador of the contest and will appear in videos and in person to award the Grand Prize at the end of the contest. The contest will launch in March 2018 on social media and on the League’s sponsored website, ReadingTheRedwoods.org, and will run for nine weeks.

The League is planning the “party of the century” on Saturday, October 13 to celebrate our 100 birthday. We anticipate 800 of the Bay Area’s leading conservation philanthropists will attend the event, which will be held in a premiere San Francisco venue and include a black-tie dinner, live auction and entertainment. Centennial Sponsors will be included in this exclusive gala celebration.

In partnership with UC Berkeley, the League will present free to the public a historical exhibition that describes the League’s 100-year quest to save the redwoods. Opening in March 2018 and running through September, we project 20,000 visitors will tour the exhibit over a six-month period.
