Recent sightings are the first since the 2020 Castle Fire

The League’s conservation team was thrilled last week as photos arrived documenting the existence of one or more Pacific fishers at our Alder Creek property. As you can see from the photos here, nighttime camera trap photos captured images of the fishers, and tracks were also found.
The Southern Sierra Nevada Distinct Population Segment of Pacific fisher was recently listed under the California Endangered Species Act, and we’re glad to see that Alder Creek continues to provide essential habitat for them. Wildfire remains one of the primary threats to the Pacific fisher, making it all the more important that we create more resilient giant sequoia forests at Alder and elsewhere throughout the range.

I’ve been seeing something fisher/marten-like on our property in Arcata. Is that possible?
