Old-Growth Forests of the Future
Redwoods Rising is a bold idea — to set the great forests of Redwood National and State Parks on a better path following decades of logging. We’re proud to partner with California State Parks and the National Park Service on this groundbreaking work.

Fish return to streams restored by Redwoods Rising
In addition to restoring thousands of acres of damaged redwood forests, Redwoods Rising is also bringing back rivers and streams wrecked by decades of aggressive logging. We’re already seeing salmon and trout returning. Redwoods Rising is a partnership of the League, California State Parks, and National Park Service.

Helping Fight Climate Change
Redwoods Rising is a bold plan to put more than 70,000 acres of damaged forest back on a path to old-growth greatness. One of the many benefits of this will be carbon storage, as old-growth coast redwood forests store more carbon per acre than any other forest type.

Old logging road removal
Removing old logging roads is an important part of Redwoods Rising, the League’s partnership with California State Parks and the National Park Service to restore more than 70,000 acres of redwood forest in Northern California. Decaying logging roads fragment the landscape, and dump tons of silt and debris into rivers and streams, choking off vital habitat for endangered salmon. Restoring this forest to its former glory is a BIG IDEA, but Redwoods Rising is making it happen.
