Our Hearts Are with Those Affected by Wildfires

California Bear Love
Our hearts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfires happening here in California. We have watched with shock, horror, and sadness as these fires have uprooted families, burned homes, and taken lives.

Thousands have been working to contain the wildfires and help with local recovery efforts. From firefighters and first responders to the public agencies and community members who have all stepped in to help, your compassion and support are a testament to the power of human kindness and resolve.

We are so grateful for the thoughtful concern from our members who have contacted us in recent days. The redwood forests and the staff of the League are safe, and our hearts are with the thousands who have been impacted by the devastation.

Even if you do not live in an area that’s immediately affected by the wildfires, they are impacting the air quality in many areas throughout the state. For the latest information about the air quality in your area and the actions you should take, visit AirNow.gov.

If you’d like to make a donation or volunteer, here is some information from KQED with ways to support the recovery efforts.

    Dear Sam,

We really don’t know each other well, but you were in your Mother’s womb at David’s and my wedding (1968) where your Father told me of your existence. Your Father was my first boss (NEH Fleet). I am so pleased to see how well you have done over the years, especially being the youngest with 3 sisters. I hope you had a great Christmas and a healthy 2019.

    Cheers, Sydney
