The Power of Partnerships and Global Outreach

In honor of the centennial anniversary of Save the Redwoods League last year, a redwood education initiative featuring the mighty giant sequoia launched at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. This program, a collaboration between the League and California State Parks, is the latest offering from the innovative Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students (PORTS) free distance learning program, which enhances K-12 science education through virtual field trips.

Nearly 10,000 students participated in the program’s inaugural year, from 40 U.S. states and 15 other countries — spanning a distance of over 500,000 miles via Skype!

Teachers, sign up your classroom starting in late August for next school year and explore the other distance learning opportunities offered through PORTS. Have a great summer!
