More than 600 attendees from 200 clubs affiliated with The Garden Club of America (GCA) will converge on San Francisco April 28 and 29 for a flower show, run by the Orinda Garden Club (OGC). Free and open to the public, the event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero in the Atrium on the third floor.

When: Hours are April 28, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and April 29, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Meet At: Hyatt Regency Embarcadero in the Atrium on the third floor

Themed “Wonders of the West”, the show will highlight the wonders of the skies, forests, deserts, and waters. Competitions will feature five floral design classes including a Challenge Class of highly-skilled, invitation-only designers. They will create a unique design using the identical plant material as the other arrangers in their class. “Everyone reacts to the style, color, or form of a flower. With the addition of photography and botanical arts in our shows, we are connecting with even more people.” says Phoebe Kahl, Co-Chair – Floral Design Division.

In addition, a conservation exhibit will provide an in-depth look at our Western watersheds, emphasizing environmental concerns and demonstrating conservation practices.

The Wonders of the West flower show is being held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the GCA leadership. The meeting rotates among the 200 clubs across the country with more than 600 attendees. The last time San Francisco hosted the GCA Annual Meeting was 1985. The Garden Club America is a nonprofit national organization composed of 200 clubs with 18,000 members who devote their energy and expertise to projects in their communities and across the country.
