Public Access to Alder Creek

Save the Redwoods League connects people to the peace and beauty of the California redwoods and giant sequoia, and Alder Creek is a natural treasure that will provide unparalleled opportunities to do foster inspirational visitor experiences. While many of the giant sequoia groves within the Giant Sequoia National Monument are difficult to access, a public road leading to Alder Creek offers a truly unique opportunity to share one of nature’s great wonders with the world.

The former owner of the property allowed public access to the Stagg Tree, and this will seamlessly continue under the League’s ownership. That said, it is possible that forest restoration and public access work being performed on the property may temporarily close access to the Stagg Tree at times, and we will publicize any such restriction as early as possible.

We will also be developing and implementing a plan for broader public access and recreational infrastructure improvements over the coming years. This will likely include trails, interpretation, and other amenities and programs for the public to enjoy.

Please check this website for updates on public access to Alder Creek.
