Curl up with your kids and read along with us

Narrated by Deborah Zierten

Your kids will enjoy this great reading of Redwoods, by Jason Chin, narrated by Deborah Zierten, the League’s Education & Interpretation Manager. Deborah chose this book specifically because it’s both fun and teaches a lot of great lessons about the giant trees.

Book Extension Activities

  1. Create a redwood forest art project.
  2. If you visited a redwood forest what would you want to explore?
  3. Learn about three animals that live in the redwoods through our redwood forest facts page.
  4. Create a word collage of words you heard in the book. It is OK if you don’t remember what they mean, you can look them up in a dictionary. Draw a picture of what the word means.

Here’s a list of some other great resources the League provides:

I am a teacher, and have taught outdoor classes in the Redwoods quite a bit. I love this story. It is a very interesting and beautifully illustrated book that is quite informative for adults as well as children. I have a good friend who is a great friend of the Redwoods, and she created a children’s book about the Redwoods that is also beautifully illustrated and educational. Would you like to see her book? She is a teacher who lives in Boulder Creek, CA and is one of the most wonderful and caring people, and is also a huge supporter of Redwoods. Thank you for all that you are doing. My day is enriched by your great website and everything you do. When I get my income up to where it was before Covid 19, I will donate. Thank you!
